The Plantation Eagles U16 Girls traveled to Tampa this past Valentine’s Day weekend to compete in the Score at the Shore tournament. The girls played three games finishing with two wins and a tie in regulation play. On Sunday evening facing elimination, the girls battled to a 1-1 tie against Space Coast United to eventually win in penalty kicks. On Monday morning, the Eagles came away with a 1-0 victory against Jacksonville Fury to earn them an afternoon Championship game against the Coral Springs Renagades.
The girls entered the tournament with only 12 players and managed to stay healthy and determined to perform. Their determination allowed them to battle the Renegades to a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation play. Going into penalty kicks to decide the championship worked on everyone’s nerves. Our goalie Katty Pasquariello’s outstanding performance throughout the tournament and especially in the final game blocking three penalty kicks allowed the Eagles to bring home the Championship trophy.
