Eagles U16 Girls Team - Makes Elite 8 in State Cup

After a long season, the hard work has finally paid off. This past weekend
the U16 Plantation Eagles Girls team made it to the Elite 8 in the Florida
State Cup. The road to the Elite 8 was not an easy one. The defeated the
Indian Harbor Beach team 3-0 and then tied the West Florida Flames (0-0).
West Florida was the runner up in State Cup in 2012, so they knew they would
have their hands full. It came down to penalty kicks - where kicks were
scores by Kortney Hinden, Rudi Bard, Valerie O’Toole, and Taylor Malone.
Because of this PK win, the team would head right to the round of 16.

The game vs. Orlando City would be nothing short of outstanding tactics and
training. The girls played their hearts out and won 1-0 by a Taylor Malone
to McKenzie Malone goal, which she was able to pop over the keepers head.
What an amazing game!! The girls faced the Sunrise Sting the next afternoon
and although fought hard - the Sting (former State Cup Champions) eliminated
the Eagles from the tournament.

What a terrific end to an amazing season. Thank you Coach Billy from all of
the girls!!
